Viewing patient medications from the medical summary
In a patient’s medical summary, you can view at-a-glance what medications a patient is currently taking, and what medications a patient has taken in the past. You can also start a prescription, or record that a patient is currently taking or has previously taken a medication.
Steps
1. | Open the patient’s medical summary (see Opening the medical summary). |
2. | Perform one of the following actions: |
To view a patient’s current medications, leave the Current Hx tab open. The Current Medications area lists the patient’s current medications.
To view a patient’s previous medications, click the Previous Hx tab. The Previous Medications area lists the patient’s previous (inactive) medications.
3. | To view more detailed information about a particular medication, in the Current Medications area or the Previous Medications area, double-click the medication. The EMR opens the Medications and Allergies window. See Viewing patient medications (new prescriber). |
