Adding other patient demographic information

You can add additional demographic information to the Patient Maintenance > Other Demographics tab when you add the new patient to the EMR or later. For example, you can enter the patient’s birth information, ethnicity, employment, preferred language, and next of kin information.

Tip: If you need to store additional patient demographic information that is not available by default in the user interface, you can define up to 24 custom fields, which appear on the Patient Maintenance window > User-Defined Fields tab. See Adding custom patient demographic fields.

Steps

1. Open the Patient Maintenance window. See Patient maintenance.
2. Click the Other Demographics tab and enter the patient’s information. Most of the fields are self-explanatory, with the following exceptions:
Field Description

Next of Kin / Contact

The Primary Caregiver field displays the name of the patient's primary caregiver, if assigned under the Name/Addr/Phone tab in the Relationship area (see Adding patient relationships).

Display with Patient Name

You can display a prefix or suffix before or after the patient’s name. In the Display with Patient Name area, in the Before field, enter the text to display before the patient's name.

Allow Access to Clinical Data

To allow all users to view the patient's medical summary, select Yes.

To allow ONLY the patient's primary service srovider to access the patient's medical summary, select No.

Internal Data

The patient’s internal ID and date when it was inserted.

3. Click Save.
