Searching for patients

You need to search for patients to perform many day-to-day tasks including adding family members to the EMR, updating demographics, booking appointments, creating messages, and searching for a patient’s medical summary.

You can perform patient searches from many areas of the EMR. You can perform the following types of searches:

Simple search in the appointment scheduler. See Searching for patients in the appointment scheduler

Advanced search: Enables you to search using advanced search criteria, such as by last name, PHN, birth date, and so on. See Searching for hard-to-find patients using an advanced search.

You can also search for a single term from all relevant fields throughout all patient records. SMART searches work similarly to internet searches. For example, searching for "Smith" returns patients with this term in their name, address is a single search line much like a search on the web. This searches for relevant fields for all the terms that the user entered.
