Approving prescription renewal requests without changes

If you receive a prescription renewal requestfrom your staff, and no modifications are needed, you can simply approve the request. Only providers can approve prescription renewal requests.

Steps

1. Open the Prescriptions to be Reviewed window as described in Processing queued prescriptions and refill requests - provider workflow (new prescriber).
2. Select the prescription(s) to approve and click Approve .

3. If the request was initiated by your staff (not an e-renewal), no further action is required. The EMR removes the prescription from your queued prescription list and notifies the queuing nurse or MOA that the queued prescription is Approved. The nurse/MOA can now print and fax the prescription report or call the pharmacy.

Tip: For staff-initiated requests (not an e-renewal), to both approve and immediately print the prescription, click Print Rx.

The prescription(s) appear(s) in the patient’s list of active medications.
