Approving prescription renewal requests without changes
If you receive a prescription renewal requestfrom your staff, and no modifications are needed, you can simply approve the request. Only providers can approve prescription renewal requests.
Steps
1. | Open the Prescriptions to be Reviewed window as described in Processing queued prescriptions and refill requests - provider workflow (new prescriber). |
2. | Select the prescription(s) to approve and click Approve ![]() |
3. | If the request was initiated by your staff (not an e-renewal), no further action is required. The EMR removes the prescription from your queued prescription list and notifies the queuing nurse or MOA that the queued prescription is Approved. The nurse/MOA can now print and fax the prescription report or call the pharmacy. |
Tip: For staff-initiated requests (not an e-renewal), to both approve and immediately print the prescription, click Print Rx.
The prescription(s) appear(s) in the patient’s list of active medications.
