Using auto-replace text
View video tutorial: Using auto-replace to save time
Using the Wolf EMR auto-replace feature, you can quickly insert pre-defined words, phrases, and paragraphs into SOAP forms, and into booking notes and patient instructions in the Patients To Notify and Appointments To Be Made windows. Auto-replace is especially useful to enter repetitive text you use often in patient visit notes, and to enter difficult-to-spell words, such as Onychomycosis” (a fungal nail infection). You can instead type “ony” and it will get automatically replaced with the full term. You can also use auto-replace text in other areas of the Wolf EMR including:
Messages and follow-ups
Referrals letters
Consult letters
Before you can use auto-replace text, you must first create the terms that will get replaced (see Creating auto-replace text).
Tip: If you do not want to use the auto-replace feature, you can turn it off. From your WorkDesk, click Configure > Configure WorkDesk > Spell Check tab. Clear the Apply Clinic Setting check box (if it is currently selected) and clear the Auto replace check box.
The replace word is NOT case sensitive, however, the capitalization you use when entering the term in your note IS important. For example, the replace term of “tci“ with the replace text of “To Come In“, inserts as follows:
Typing “tci“ will get replaced with “to come in“
Typing “TCI“ will get replaced with “TO COME IN“
Typing “Tci“ will get replaced with “To come in”
Steps
1. | In any text field on a SOAP form, booking notes, or instructions for patients, click where you want to insert text. |
2. | Type a pre-defined replace term, such as “tci”, and then press the space bar on your keyboard The EMR replaces the term you entered with the associated text, such as “to come in”. |
3. | Edit the inserted text as necessary. |
