Marking a patient as deceased
If a patient passed away, you can change the patient's status to indicate this and so that the patient is no longer an active patient.
If the patient has follow-ups and notifications for a date after the deceased date or has incomplete past follow-ups or notifications, you have the option to remove them when you change a patient’s status to deceased. The EMR then marks all of the follow-ups as complete and removes the patient from the patients to notify list. You can also archive the patient’s future appointments.
Tip: To find deceased patients, in patient searches select the Include Inactive check box and choose Deceased.
In the patient’s medical summary, a Died date appears and the label Deceased appears next to the name in Patient Maintenance. See Deceased patient banner.
