Saving Referral Letter Composer templates

You can save what medical summary categories and items get included by default within the Referral Letter Composer as a template. You can save a template for:

The user who starts the referral letter

Individual consultants

Specialties of consultants

Each time that you then open the Referral Letter Composer for a letter you create, or that you create for the specific consultant or specific specialty, the chosen categories will selected by default.

Steps

1. Start a referral letter for a patient, and in the Referral Letter Composer window, select the medical summary categories you want to include in the letter template. See Creating and sending referral letters.
2. In the Save Checked Nodes as Template area, choose one of the following options:

User (<Your name>): to indicate that the selected categories are to default for all referral letters you create.

Consultant (<Consultant’s name>): to indicate that the selected categories are to default only when you refer a patient to the selected consultant.

Specialty (<Specialty name>): to indicate that the selected categories are to default only when you refer a patient to a consultant with the selected specialty.

3. Click Save as Template.
Tip:

After you set default templates for the Referral Letter Composer, you can view what template the EMR defaults to for each referral letter you create. The EMR displays the Template in Use in the Save Checked Nodes as Template area on the Referral Letter Composer window.
